Samgomu  ( Three Drums Dance) Dancers

Samgomu (三 鼓舞) is a creative dance by beating three drums, which is originated from seungmu drum dance. It is much more exciting, vibrant, and colorful than Ohgomu (five drums dance). It is a drum ensemble concert harmonizing dynamics rhythm and pitchthat leads theaudience to the height of wholly selfless soul.

Salp'uri, the act if dispernsing or repulsing sal or misfortune, and also a dance of symbolic spiritual cleansing, is a means if survival. It is a way of preserving and main maintaining life. 



1) About the Songhee Lee Dance Company

Established by Ms. Song Hee Lee in 2000, the dance company is an international dance troupe performing traditional forms of Korean dance and contemporary dance. The dance company includes the children’s dance initiative, Cheongsah Chorong. The Song Hee Lee Dance Company has participated in competitions, parades, and festivals throughout North America, North Africa, Europe, and Asia. Also, the dance company has performed at the Greek National Dance Theater, Dora Stratou for the CID UNESCO World Congress on Dance, NEA Montana Folk Festival and International Festival at Chihuahua, Mexico


2) About the artistic director, Songhee Lee

Songhee Lee, is a dancer specializes in Korean traditional dance. Upon graduating from University of Pusan, Korea, she joined the Pusan Metropolitan Dance Company and became principal dancer.  In 1997, Ms Lee had her first solo recital in NYC at the Hudson Guild Theater and had reviewed by Jack Anderson from NY Times. Since then, Ms. Lee has been actively performing around the world and US. Ms. Lee was awarded from Queens Council on the Art in 2010 and had her second solo recital at the Flushing Town Hall.  Ms. Lee have performed at the Greek National Dance Theater, Dora Stratou for the CID UNESCO World Congress on Dance, NEA Montana Folk Festival and International Festival at Chihuahua, Mexico. Currently, Ms. Lee is Artistic Director and Choreographer for the Songhee Lee Dance Company which includes the children’s dance initiative, Cheongsah Chorong. Ms. Lee is also an instructor at Lotus Music and Dance school and performance member of KTPAA “Sound of Korea.”
